The majority of oil paintings in the Tain Through Time collection hang in the Tain Council Chamber. They were entrusted to the museum by Tain Town Council in 1974 prior to the reorganisation of local government. The paintings are mainly of past Provosts and office bearers of Tain plus a view from Tain Links. The collection includes a portrait of Alexander Wallace by Scottish artist George Fiddes Watt.
