A loose association of wealthy artists, including G.F. Watts, William Holman Hunt and Frederic Leighton, who established themselves in Holland Park, London, centred on Melbury Road and Holland Park Road. They lived in purpose-built red-brick studio houses, designed by prominent architects including Norman Shaw, George Aitchison, William Burges and Philip Webb. Show Sundays were held there, with studios opened up to the public, and these artists were treated as celebrities, appearing 'at home' in leading magazines of the day. Developed in association with Grant Waters, Art Detective Group Leader: South East England, East England and the Midlands.
