The Clock Tower was built in the Gothic style. The stonemason F. W. Bennett obtained a position in the Webster and Cannon team that built the tower, and was given the main task to produce the floral scroll work. After purchasing the Lordship of the Manor in 1848, Acton Tindal, Clerk of the Peace for Bucks, presented the town with a clock. On the north-west face of the tower, almost half way up, is a carved relief inscription from 1876. This is on the same side as the foundation stone. At the base of the steps on the north-east side is a commemorative stone for the Queen’s Golden Jubilee. On the opposite side facing the Friars Shopping Centre is a small simple plaque relating to a commemorative trough. The trough appears to have been removed.
