The tribal provenance of this carved figure, with arms stretched upwards is unconfirmed. William Fagg, Keeper of Ethnography at the British Museum, noted in 1971 that the sculpture is European in style and was made for sale to visitors. It was collected in Sierra Leone in 1966–1967
