A life-size figure of Sergeant John (Jack) Daniel Baskeyfield in uniform and holding a shell. The sculpted figure is stood on top of rectangular brick plinth. Baskeyfield was awarded the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to members of the British and Commonwealth armed forces.
