A polished obelisk rising from a stepped base with an inscription and oval bronze medallion. Above the inscription is a carved lifebuoy and rope entwining the sitter's initials and an oval bronze with his portrait and depicting incidents from his life. Mark Addy was a publican, swimmer and rower and was during his lifetime award many medals for saving over 50 people from drowning in the Irwell.
