'Golgotha' was inspired by the artist's experience of the Burren in her youth. Her series of Burren landscapes, produced in the 1960s, were created by pouring paint and other materials, such as sand, over wetted horizontal canvases. The resultant patterns formed abstract images highly evocative of the Burren's rocky landscape.
