The work has a tapering square base decorated with a half wheel on each side against the foot. There is a front-on view of a locomotive on one side showing the inspection door of the boiler with its two handles, an inscription on another. Above in a simplified neo-gothic style, is an octagonal spire mirroring the shape of the tower and steeple of Lenzie Old Parish Church which is diagonally opposite at the centre of the village. On four of the sides, there is a louvred window shape with a pointed arch containing a quatrefoil. At each corner is a finial with a gold ball on top and on the spire above the pointed arch motif is also picked out in gold. The spire is topped with a ball and flower motif.
