This is after an antique marble herm in the British Museum. It is three-quarter-length statue of a bearded man dressed in classical robes and cloak, holding a flute up in front of his chest as if ready to play it. The figure is on an integral pedestal. This statue can be seen in the portrait of Sir Granville Bantock by Bernard Munns, also in the University of Birmingham collection (accession no. A224).
