Davenport’s abstract works are created by pouring paint onto a variety of surfaces, sometimes using syringes to spread the paint, and he has used a similar technique in this set of four etchings. Using the movement of the pigment across the surface he creates unexpected results that convey a sense of immediacy. He has said: ‘that’s the great thing about art – you’re never too sure where you’re going to end up. It really is a personal journey’.
