Treuliodd Charles Tunnicliffe oriau yn astudio bywyd gwyllt yn y maes, gan lenwi ei lyfrau braslunio â lluniadau arsylwadol cyflym, gan nodi arferion a nodweddion symudiad; manylion a ddefnyddiodd yn ddiweddarach fel gwybodaeth gyfeiriol. Dyma dudalen rhydd o un o'i lyfrau braslunio maes. Mae'n debyg iddo gael ei wneud ar ddiwedd y 1920au neu ddechrau'r 1930au, ac mae'n cynnwys astudiaethau o Fwncath, Cudyll Coch a Gylfinir yn hedfan. Trwy gydol ei yrfa creodd yr artist gasgliad anhygoel o lyfrau braslunio – mae gan Oriel Môn 52 o gyfrolau yn ei gasgliad, sy'n cynnwys tua 3,500 o dudalennau o waith celf fanwl a chywir. Charles Tunnicliffe spent hours studying wildlife in the field, filling his sketchbooks with quick observational drawings, noting habits and movement characteristics; details he later used for reference.
Throughout his career the artist amassed an incredible collection of sketchbooks – Oriel Môn holds 52 volumes in its collection, containing some 3,500 pages of detailed and accurate artwork.
