Dove Cottage was the home of William and Dorothy Wordsworth between 1799 and 1808. Their manuscripts, books and portraits, along with those of other key figures of Romanticism, are displayed in the adjacent museum. The Jerwood Centre, opened 2005, holds the main collection of 65,000 items, which also includes paintings and drawings of the Lake District.
