Pitt is shown standing, with his head turned slightly up and to the right, and his right leg placed in front of the left. In his right hand he holds a partially unfurled scroll against his thigh, as if delivering a speech. He is dressed in the contemporary Georgian style, with what appears to be a swallow-tail coat with a broad collar and lapel.
