The three seated female figures have been referred to as The Three Arts. To the left, Architecture studies a plan while resting her left arm on the model of a classical temple. The central figure, Painting, has a palette and once held a paint brush. On the right, Sculpture has a mallet in one hand while gazing at a damaged statuette, which was once a model of a slave by Michelangelo. Only the legs remain. Architecture and Sculpture are fully draped while Painting is bare-breasted.
