'The Wood Memorial Fountain', erected in 1889 by the inhabitants of Glossop in memory of Samuel and Daniel Wood. The drinking fountain is on a rectangular plan, four-step base, and the central pillar has drinking bowls to two aspects with inscriptions and low relief portraits of Samuel and Daniel to the remaining sides. Atop the fountain is a robed female standing figure, with a stack of four parcels by her side. The Woods family were great benefactors to the development of the Baths, Park, and hospital. Samuel and Daniel Wood died before the official opening of Howard Park, originally to have been named Victoria Park, in June 1888, and the associated ceremonies were thus subdued. The park itself is Grade II listed with the fountain forming part of this listing.
