A seascape of an empty horizon from the steamer, 'Allsund'. The sketch concentrates on the effects of light in the sky. The sun is visible as a white mass in the sky on the right casting its light over the sky in patches of lemon yellow. The sky is tinged grey with a patch of blue sky on the left. The light from the sun casts a strong linear reflection on the sea on the right and is repeated on the crests of the waves on the calm blue-green sea. Everett sailed in the Danish steamer, 'Allsund', from the Black River, Jamaica, to Le Havre, France, between December 1930 and January 1931. The painting is inscribed 'Allsund' verso.
