A large classical male figure with a wreath of fruits and leaves around his head and a long flowing beard, reclining on an irregular-shaped stone base. The right arm rests on an upturned jug from which water gushes blending into the base, the left arm and hand are raised pointing into the distance, the right leg is bent under the left, the left hangs down with the foot resting on the pedestal. The figure and base are mounted on a rectangular pedestal, flat on the surface with rusticated sides and bearing on its west side a crest of an arrow and purse. The work represents a river god, possibly Neptune or Father Thames, although the precise identity is not known. Several others originally existed which are now missing except for an identical one situated at Ham House.
