According to Wat Tyler Sculpture Trail 'the sculpture was relocated to Wat Tyler in 2005. This sculpture showing three figures helping each other onto, and up from a plinth, was originally commissioned from Essex-based sculptor Michael Condron for Basildon Town Square. Progression can be read as three figures helping each other onwards, or as a single figure in three different stages of growth.'

Design workshops with pupils from Billericay School and James Hornsby School contributed to the concept.
