A square-section pillar of unpolished granite supporting a bronze statue of the Angel of Victory, holding a wreath in one hand and a small winged victory in the other. The sculpture is on a wide three-tier stone platform, with a semi-circular projection to the centre of each step. Relief panels on three sides represent immortality, peace and the supreme sacrifice. Reliefs show a nude male holding a wreath and sword with a battle scene frieze; a female figure with a child and lamb; and a draped female figure holding a palm and lamp – the frieze depicts marching soldiers carrying the wounded past battlefield crosses.
