The statue stands out among the headstones of the wind-swept churchyard, at the eastern perimeter of the older section. It is even more striking since the angel, her wings unfolded and pointing to the heavens with her right arm with the trumpet of the Last Judgment besides her flowing dress, belongs with a type established in Italy in the 1870s. There is an even finer example at Ringsfield of 1902 for Princess Caroline Murat. Nothing is known about the artist or the commission, although it was, like the example at Ringsfield, probably supplied by a London based stonemason.
