This is a large, full-length portrait of King George I in full regalia, wearing the order of St. George over his ermine robe. His right hand rests on the orb which is on a table covered by a red cloth with a large gold fringe. Beside the orb lie the King’s crown and sceptre. His left hand rests on the hilt of his sword.

Beneath the picture on a board reads the inscription: 'This Picture of his Sacred Majesty King George was given to this Society by Thomas Murray and William Thomson Gentlemen – The Worshipful Samuel Dawson Governour – Samuel Buxton Deputy Governour – Richard Denton and Richard Bayne Wardens. Anno Dom 1722'.
