Elijah Walton was an English artist best remembered for his landscapes of mountains in the Alps and scenes in Egypt. He was born in Birmingham in 1832 and died insolvent in Lickey, near Bromsgrove at the age of 47. At his peak, he produced a healthy output of oils and watercolours and his work was much sought after, even ranked as highly as John Everett Millais and Samuel Palmer for his early work.
