A full-scale cast of one of a pair of roundels made by the sculptor Thomas Banks for the Lothbury Court at Soane's Bank of England. It is based on the pair of large Roman roundels of Sol and Luna on the Arch of Constantine. Soane referred to these as Morning and Evening and a number of plaster versions at different scales survive in his museum. A pair at this scale are used in the entrance hall at Sir John Soane's country house, Pitzhanger Manor in Ealing, and were also used on the Scala Regia at the Palace of Westminster, designed by Soane. Another full-scale cast, as A90.
