The relief depicts the whole of the almshouse building in perspective, viewed from Colston Street. The deeply-cut relief reproduces Foster and Wood’s Victorian design in great detail: the façade of the chapel, the spiral staircase tower, the many roof turrets, the statue of John Foster, a tiny reproduction of the statue of a woman (now sadly missing or maybe never carried out), and even an indication of this ‘model view’ itself.
