An octagonal temple with circular dome. Four shorter sides have projecting entablature on paired Ionic columns. There are cast iron gates or grills with glazing behind on the three longer sides, and an architraved semi-circular window above the entablature. The fourth side is infilled with a masonry panel as background for the original marble alto relievo by Turnerelli which has been replaced by a copy from 1936, signed by Hermon Cawthra. There is a recumbent red sandstone ledger to the interior, at the foot of the wall-mounted sculptural group depicting the Muse Coila over the ploughman poet. There is a secondary cornice and blocking course with the dome above. It is built of local red sandstone and has a painted finish. There are square-headed openings on three sides with metal gates.
