The artist was born the Hon. Georgiana Elizabeth Byng, second daughter of the 4th Viscount and Viscountess Torrington. She married Lord John Russell, the eventual 6th Duke of Bedford. She was sister to the Hon. Lucy Byng, wife of Orlando Bridgeman, 1st Earl of Bradford. She died in 1801.
