Painter, born in Birmingham, who studied at Manchester Technical School and Manchester School of Art, his teachers being the architect Richard Glazier and the painter William Fitz. After a period in business, in the early years of the century he moved to Conway, north Wales, where he painted professionally, setting eventually at Amlwch, Anglesey. Exhibited extensively RCamA, of which he was a member, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, and elsewhere in the provinces. Manchester City Art Gallery has Stamper’s detailed study Wallflowers.
