Printmaker and lecturer, born in Northern Ireland, who graduated in printmaking from the University of Wolverhampton, 1992–5, gaining his master’s in that discipline there, 1998–00. Awards included Jim Chappin Memorial Prize, at Wolverhampton, and John Purcell Paper Award, Falmouth College of Art, both 1995; David Canter Memorial Prize Award for Printmaking and Gwen May Commemorative Award, both 2001; and St Cuthbert’s Paper Mill Award, Mall Galleries, 2002, the year that Martin became an associate member of the RE. He was a visiting artist at Lewisham College, 2000–1, and artist-in-residence, Chenderit School, Middleton Cheney, 2002–3. Martin also conducted printmaking workshops and was a visiting lecturer, University of Wolverhampton, and at North Oxfordshire College, both 2002.
