Watercolourist, draughtsman and printmaker, born in London. Studied at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts and Royal College of Art, which he left in 1928. Badmin soon established a reputation for his detailed, affectionate depictions of the English countryside and country life. He illustrated Shell Guides, Shell posters, produced over a hundred greetings card designs for Royle’s the fine art publishers, produced covers for Reader’s Digest and illustrated travel and topographical books. Aged 26, he became one of the youngest-ever members of RWS, also becoming a member of RE. Showed Fine Art Society, Leicester Galleries, Arts Council and abroad. In 1985 Chris Beetles Ltd held a major retrospective to coincide with Beetles’ biography S R Badmin and the English Landscape.
