Printmaker, watercolourist and teacher, born and finally lived in London. He gained a silver medal in architecture from King’s College in 1899, also winning a number of prestigious medals in Britain and abroad for etching. Studied at St Martin’s School of Art, where he later taught, Goldsmiths’ College School of Art and Royal College of Art. Eventually became head of etching department at Central School of Arts and Crafts. Wrote the manual Etching Craft. He was a member of RE, RWS, NS, Print Makers’ Society of California, Chicago Society of Etchers and was an honorary fellow of the Australian Society of Etchers. Showed at RA and widely internationally.
