Painter, maker of clay constructions, printmaker, illustrator, teacher and writer, born in Cambridge. He attended Bournemouth College of Art and Design, 1960–6, then Hornsey College of Art, 1967–8. Before freelancing Partington taught painting and drawing to art students for 15 years. Among his commissions was illustrating Down by the River, by H E Bates, 1987, and in 1989 he published Learn to Paint Birds, one of his favourite subjects. Partington was elected a member of SWLA in 1985 and was a keen supporter of game conservancy and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. Exhibited widely in London and the provinces, including Tryon Gallery. Museum of Wildlife Art, Gloucester, holds his work. Lived in Gravesend, Kent.
