Painter, born in Bangor, County Down, Northern Ireland, who studied at Belfast College of Art and then in Paris. He first showed there in 1948, soon after exhibiting in his home town at the O’Hara Gallery, Bangor; also at Robinson Gallery, Dublin; Kilcock Gallery, County Kildare, and Eakin Gallery, Belfast, all showed his traditional landscapes, seascapes and coastal scenes. He also exhibited in London and at galleries in America and Australia. Two typical oils were included in Landscapes North and South, Glebe House and Gallery, Donegal, and tour, 1997–8. The Department of the Environment in Northern Ireland, Ulster Bank, Coca-Cola Corporation and other corporate collections hold examples.
