Painter in oil and watercolour and illustrator. Born in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, he studied at Birmingham School of Art, 1892–1900, at the Birmingham Royal Society of Artists and on the continent. Exhibited RA, RBSA, RI, ROI, RBA and elsewhere. Castle Museum, Norwich, holds his work. Dexter was a prolific writer on art and illustrated a number of books, including E V Lucas’ A Wanderer in Paris. Lived at King’s Lynn, Norfolk.
