Painter, ceramist and teacher, born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Studied at Royal College of Art design school, teachers including Henry Moore. Taught at Lincoln College of Art; was a camouflage officer in Royal Air Force, 1939–45; then taught at Shrewsbury School, 1945–70. His main works included murals in St Tim’s and St Ambrose, Everton, demolished 1970. Broadbent, who adored the work of Bonnard, showed with Shropshire Art Society, elsewhere in the country and had a solo exhibition at Shrewsbury School in 1980.
