Having completed a BA in History at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, Thomas Dobson started work with the Oxford Centre for Methodism and Church History (Oxford Brookes University) in September 2018. In June 2019, he was appointed as the Centre’s ‘Collections and Digitisation Officer’, caring for the variety of archive and art collections held by the Centre, as well as overseeing its use and digitisation. In February 2023, his role was extended to include oversight of the Centre’s extensive research events, as well as their engagement with research activities of The Methodist Church.
Alongside this work, Thomas is completing a PhD at Oxford Brookes University, focussing on the work of the Methodist Church as a provider of non-theological higher education, with an especial focus on the teacher training activities of Westminster College and its relocation to Oxford in the 1950s.
