In the centre of the picture is a woman in a red cape, black hat, and blue dress, carrying a bundle of white, which is possibly a child. In front of her is a white dog. Behind is a girl in a hat, light brown cape and skirt, who looks at the viewer. All the figures face the left, walking down a country path. On the right is a wooded area. In the distance, on the left, is a church spire and some houses. The figures could be walking into town.
