A four-tiered obelisk with a runic open cross design at the top. A bronze downward facing sword is also attached to the face of the top of the obelisk. Stone plaques set into the rear wall of the enclosed area bear the names of the fallen. The plaques are surmounted by scroll designs and an inscribed top-stone. The memorial was moved to its current location in the 1990s and set in a grassed, walled and railed area. On the outer aspect of the rear wall are five bronze decorative roundels designed by Edwin Russell. The railings surrounding the monument were designed by Alan Dawson and are decorated with poppies at various stages of bloom.
