A square studded door with hefty iron hinges that have decorative root-like extensions. The door leaf is composed of sixteen panels, of which nine are illustrated with carvings or (in one panel) a relief, namely on the top row: a hermit, bridge and church; Swiss bridge; Andrew Pettigrew and plants; on the second row: Mill leat in front of the castle; cottage industries; the cowled head of a blackfriar in relief, the fingers in prayer attached separately to a crosspiece; and on the third row: ducking stool with watchers in a woodland; two coracles; four Roman coins.
