James Webb was a marine and landscape painter. He exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1853 and 1888. His pictures include coastal scenes of Britain, Holland and France, as well as views of the Rhine. Webb painted in a robust, naturalistic style using a pale range of colours. He was greatly influenced by J. M. W. Turner.
