Henry Bouverie William Brand was returned as MP for Cambridgeshire (1868–1884) and continued in this role until his elevation to the peerage. He was a Speaker of the House of Commons from 1872 to 1884. It should be noted that the Wisbech portrait shows Hampden wearing the sash and star of the GCB, which do not feature in the House of Commons work.
