Painter, daughter of the 1st Lord Bicester, she married Francis Rennell Rodd, Lord Rennell of Rodd, diplomat, banker and explorer. After studying at Slade School of Fine Art, 1918–22, with Henry Tonks and Philip Wilson Steer, she became a professional painter. During 1940–5 she lived in America and for some time did not paint, resuming in 1960s. When arthritis prevented her working in oils outside she worked in Chinese ink on rice paper. In 1975 Fowler-Wright Books Ltd produced The Paintings of Mary Rennell, some hand-coloured by the artist, in a limited edition. She was widely travelled overseas, showing in solo exhibitions in America and Australia and in Britain at Howard Roberts Gallery in Cardiff, WAC, National Book League, RA and RP.
