Draughtsman, especially in pencil in monochrome, who was originally a sculptor and who employed collage and various materials in work of great restraint, sometimes on a huge scale. The sea, Oriental art and the isle of St Kilda were among her inspirations. Born in Aberdeen, Ogilvie studied sculpture at Edinburgh College of Art, 1964–9, with Eric Schilsky, from 1969–70 producing plaster reliefs. Eventually she returned to lecture at her old College. First solo show was in 1974 at 57 Gallery, Edinburgh. In 1981 she had an exhibition at Serpentine Gallery, later ones including Stephen Lacey Gallery, 1999, and Dundee Contemporary Arts, Dundee, 2005–6. Won several Scottish Arts Council awards and was president of SSA, 1981–3. Lived in Leith, Lothian.
