Self-taught painter, born in the west of England, who until 1999 was a chartered accountant and finance manager. He then became a full-time artist, notable for landscapes painted in Britain and abroad. Hughes took part in mixed exhibitions and shared shows in Bath and Honiton and in 2004 was included in W H Patterson’s Six Selected Artists.
