Landscape painter and illustrator, born in Woodford, Essex, full name Alexander Carruthers Gould. He was the son of the caricaturist Francis Carruthers Gould, settled in Porlock, Somerset, and illustrated E W Hendy’s Wild Exmoor Through the Year, 1930. He was a member of RBA where he was a prolific exhibitor, also being a member of RWA and showing at RA, ROI, NEAC and other galleries.
