The Victoria Centre is a purpose designed building facilitating inpatient and therapeutic services for older adults over the age of sixty five with mental health problems and dementia. All the paintings were produced by patients and staff. The art work is an integral part of the patients care, creating a beautiful environment which creates a sense of calm and aids their recovery. The collection proves that older adults and people with memory problems can learn new skills, they can be open to new ideas and modern art, and the collection dispels the myth that you have to be ‘good at art’ to engage in art making.
