The Art Collection has contributed greatly to the aesthetic and cultural life of the University of Stirling since its foundation in 1967. The Collection currently holds over 500 works comprising of paintings, prints, tapestries, poetry, film, sculpture and glass with an emphasis on contemporary Scottish paintings and outdoor sculpture.
The tradition of collecting, conserving and interpreting art at the University of Stirling goes back to its foundation. The first Principal, Professor Tom Cottrell, felt that art should be part of the everyday experience at the University and it is his guiding philosophy that drives and inspires the University to continue collecting and showing exciting art to the public.
