Dundee's Art College has been in its current home in the Crawford and Matthew Buildings on Perth Road since 1955 and 1974 respectively. From small beginnings in the 1880s it has grown to become Scotland's largest and most research-active art college. There are several public gallery spaces in the College (most notably the Cooper Gallery) but these are generally used to display changing exhibitions of contemporary art. The College's collection of paintings is mostly displayed elsewhere around the University of Dundee campus.
