The John Moore Museum comprises two buildings where the heritage and natural history of the local area can be explored.
Nestled in a row of 15th century timber framed buildings, the museum was established in 1980 in memory of the writer and naturalist John Moore. Today it is home to an extensive Natural History collection featuring specimens of the mammals and birds native to our countryside, woodlands and wetlands.
A few doors away is the Merchant's House, a two storey building which has been beautifully restored and furnished to show the construction and interiors of a Tudor shop and dwelling. The paintings on display here are the work of one of the museum's original trustees.
