Matteo di Giovanni
c.1430–1495
(b Borgo San Sepolcro [now Sansepolcro] c.1430; d Siena, 1495). Italian painter. He came from the same town as Piero della Francesca, and he painted the wings and predella (Pinacoteca, Sansepolcro) of the altarpiece of which Piero's Baptism of Christ (NG, London) was the centre panel.
