More about

The Scottish Jewish Archives Centre is a voluntary body, established in 1987 to preserve the history of Jewish people in Scotland. The Centre is based in the historic Garnethill Synagogue. Built in 1879, it is Scotland’s oldest working synagogue and is a Category A listed building. The Archives Centre continues to acquire documents, artworks and artefacts illustrating the history and activities of the Jewish community in Scotland. Archive Centre volunteers assist with collections documentation and research, and guiding school children, groups and individual visitors. The Friends of the Scottish Jewish Archives Centre receive regular newsletters, a discount on book sales, and information about the Centre and activities.
